Stained Letter

I forgot to forget
So here I stand
Walking down memory lane
Going down a path of pain
that doesn’t go anywhere

Because I keep forgetting that you left
Because the emotion that you felt was not love
Because you truly never cared about us

So you know what I will do?
I will write you
The longest letter you’ve ever regarded
I wouldn’t want you to miss a detail
of how I’ve been since the day you departed
Maybe then will you feel
A little of all I’ve felt
All these years
Without a father figure

– Juliet Rivor © April 2018

Parents are what makes the child. You can’t choose the past, but you can choose your future. Be the father for your children you didn’t have but wished you did. Be the light in a somber soul’s life. And ultimately smile. Because what you live makes you who you are.
And be there for your kids. Time passes in the blink of an eye. Don’t give to them that emptiness you felt once. Allow their love to fill that void. And forgive those that hurt you. Intentionally or not. The forgiveness is not for them, but for you
